The Winnie

This 84-unit residential project sits near Chicago landmarks like the Aragon Ballroom and The Green Mill. It is also just across the tracks from our ongoing Bridgeview Bank project, and only a short drive away from our sister project, The June. Replacing a former gravel parking lot, The Winnie now adds new residential apartments with easy access to entertainment and the CTA Red Line. The ground floor contains a generous lobby and parking for 30 cars.

While not copying the terra cotta-clad adjacent neighboring mixed use building, a deliberate attempt to continue the rhythm and scale of the window pattern establishes continuity of the street wall on Winthrop Avenue.

The Winnie, named for its location on Winthrop Avenue, has increased setbacks as a lighting and view consideration for the neighboring buildings to the south and north. A north facing courtyard was carved out of the building to achieve this effect.

The roof amenity offers views to downtown Chicago and glimpses of Lake Michigan, as well as generous lounging and grilling areas for tenants.

Amenity space on the roof offers views of downtown. The Bridgeview Bank building in the distance is another Level-designed project with Cedar Street Properties.

A combination of metal panels, dark aluminum window frames, and cement panels creates a palette that compliments the terra cotta commercial building at Lawrence Avenue.

The Winnie now extends the urban edge of the existing building where there once was a parking lot.  Average unit size of 432 square feet, while small, offers the opportunity to live in a new unit at an affordable price, close to transportation and restaurants.
